This article focuses on the question of women’s suffrage in Britain by analyzing the interaction between the House of Commons and the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU) - the radical suffrage organization founded in 1903 and led by the famous Pankhursts. Central to this study are parliamentary debates relating to the Parliamentary Franchise (Women) Bill, better known as the first Conciliation Bill in 1910, as well as the writings published in 1910 in WSPU’s periodical, Votes for Women. This paper aims to analyze the concept of fear in La main du diable, a movie of Maurice Tourneur. The film shows the Faustian pact between a bad artist and the devil. The pact concerns a wretched hand, and the obsession that will lead the protagonist to free it. The director has been able to show two kinds of fear, which, taken in isolation, seem to be a chiasm: the fear of death, which is afraid of a condition of life that leads to death (misery, failure, lack of love), and the fear of life, which is afraid of eternity, of an eternal suffering, of a life that does not remedy the loss of one's being. We examined motivation and behaviors in women's active job search in Spain and the gender gap in this process. The current crisis in Spain and the increase in the number of unemployed people have revealed new inequalities that particularly affect women's employability, especially the most vulnerable women. This paper addresses two exploratory studies: the first study analyzes gender differences in the active job search using a sample of 236 Spanish participants; the second study explores the heterogeneity and diversity of unemployed women in a sample of 235 Spanish women.
